This is a major offseason for these Chicago Blackhawks.
They have a HC position to fill. They’re going to have another top-four draft pick. They could have over $30 million in salary cap space. Add it all up, and the Blackhawks could greatly impact their present and future in the coming months. Of course, it all depends on what GM Davidson does with each of those things. This could be a memorable or forgettable offseason. For it to be a perfect offseason, this is what would likely need to happen.
Like Carle, Sullivan might decide he’s better off somewhere else. Sullivan will have his place to pick. Would he mind taking a role like the Hawks’ opening, where some patience is probably still needed? The Hawks’ rebuild isn’t as far off as it was two seasons ago, but there’s some work to be done. That comes with job security but also requires the right mindset.
Ideally, our Hawks would like to draft the best forward available. If they add another elite forward to their growing young group, that could be significant to their rebuild plans. Misa, who is 6 foot 1 and 185 pounds, might be the perfect player for what we need. He has size, skating and offense. Frondell, Martone and Desnoyers would be in the discussion, too, depending on where we draft.
Ryan Donato is the only pending unrestricted free agent they’d like to bring back. The Blackhawks probably thought at the beginning of the season they’d let Donato walk after the season, but his 31-goal season changed everything. It changed everything for Donato, too.
So far, Donato hasn’t been willing to sign the Hawks’ offer, which is believed to be a three-year deal with a $4 million cap hit. It’ll be interesting to see if the Hawks come up on those numbers. Although some of the young players will likely produce at a higher rate come next season, the Hawks will probably still be looking for someone who can fill Donato’s type of production if he walks. We were 26th in goals per game this past season. They need offense.
Free agency would be the easiest way for the Hawks to add someone. Cap space won’t be an issue. But the inventory is the unknown. Rantanen didn’t even reach free agency. Will Marner? Marner would make a lot of sense as Bedard’s long-term linemate. If Marner does hit the market, he’s going to be in the $15 million range. Could Ehlers, B.Nelson or Boeser interest us ?

This isn’t so much in the Hawks’ hands in the offseason, but they could use their young players to make great strides in their development this offseason. They could use Bedard to become faster. They need Lardis to get healthy and then get stronger.
We need the horses. Maybe better to not have the coach/s like we this for little while (and I ain’t saying wait) so we can get some elite horses when we suck anyways.
Just develop ideally and get the high picks and loads of other picks/like two 1sts every draft and several 32-90 picks. I mean like 8 total top 90 picks every draft.
Then use some assets to attack to get get what we need and be selective in who we want use hat we got to do it.
That’s what it’s there for.
Montgomery completely change the Blues in a few weeks .
What a difference a coach makes.
You see it right there .
Isaac Howard dont want to sign with Tampa and said he wants to play with the team of his choice …
Will be free by September 26 to sign with the Hawks ( maybe ) 🤔
Its really far away but still interesting to have a look 👀 at him later
Is skating is very strong and stick handling is wow 😮.
5’11 190 pounds . Turn 21 2 weeks ago ..
This year with Michigan he had 26 goals 52 points in 37 games plus 19 . Solid player who would probably be a good player to get
Young , skill, talented, speedy, athletic,.what wlse to we need here .
21 yo, 2022 first round pick, Issac Howard, born in Wisconsin, has told Lightning he will stay in college (Michigan State) to become a FA in 7/2026.
Wants to look for his best fit.
Read that BobbyG. Sez they will pick each ball slow enough to eliminate teams without that possible combination. That would be interesting to watch. #1 pick first then #2.
Lottery Live Monday at 6 CT on ESPN.
14% chance of Pick 2
31% chance of Pick 3
42% chance of Pick 4
We could easily do 35-40-7 and get a high enough pick and get way better then -22 under .500 and that’s would be best.
That 26 draft is deep not sure how top heavy deep. Makes diff to get 6th instead of 12th.
I haven’t liked mariner and others mostly because I want the hoss Tazer kind of players 200ft that play defense. Sharpy played Defense to.
We know we need hammers size and that for playoffs.
Fine to have some off players. Have to have a ton of players like 81 19 10 20 16 67 36 65 4 32.
How many of those do we have so far.
Could a nightmare happen? Hawks finished 4-2-2 10pts in April, the last 8 games. In 82 games that’s 84 points. Could they say we were seeing improvement and keep Sorensen 😩. Possibly show enough improvement to lure Cooper in when his contract actually expires.
Just read that Cooper is staying with Tampa – so cancel that pipedream.
They also have Adam Edstrom 6’7″ 240lbs. Could he be our new Buff! Are they ready to double his salary to $1.51mil. Won’t cost us anything to offer that.
So much for Parssinen Rags signed him too for only $1.250mil. Could have put them in a bind.
Rangers hire Sullivan
Correct 6fters 200lbs needed. Would like to know what held out Jeannot. Bennett might be the get with a slight over pay. Like the way Kotkaniemi plays with speed and some sandpaper.
Possible $4.58mil offersheet to Cuylle. Maybe NYR could believe they made a mistake on Lafreniere. Have them retain something on a trade for him. Maybe Bert and a next year 2nd could get him with no retention. NYR at $85.83mil for next year still needing to sign Cuylle, Miller, Jones, Rempe also Parssinen who I like 6’3″ 212lbs. They need to sign 3 forwards and 2 D with $10mil of room. We can probably pull a St Louis and offersheet Passinen $2.29mil. Would try to get a pick for Kurashev from someone and I just have a feeling Donato going to sign elsewhere. Probably Boston.
Hawks have ALOT of Soft players when it comes to playing physical hockey …
Better get a few Large Hammers … Playoffs isn’t about a collection of fast porcelain dolls skating around…lol
Marner…. I have never been a big fan of
I would go after Boeser. And Bennet also is interesting.🧐
Drew Commesso in the 2025 Calder Cup Playoffs:
Game 1 (away at Rosemont): 32/33 OTW
Game 2 (home vs Rosemont): 34/34 W
Game 1 (away at Milwaukee): 28/30 OTW
Total stats: 3GP 3-0-0 .969 SV% 0.97 GAA
Hey Billy – what did you do to my face? I gave up my mustache about 35 years ago! And I need my glasses back – I’m blind as a bat!
Now we need to see Panther 🐆 win against Leafs to get a better pick
And we need to see avs , hurricanes, Oilers to go further in playoff so we move up in the next draft .. just one two spots higher can change many things for the Hawks . 27 pick instead of 29 pick would be good but 26 would be very good
They could have pick 2 or 3 then 26-27 then 34 …3 picks in top 34 …could be quite interesting.🧐
Did he as bat that out of mid air. Then Rantanen scores to say hi.
DAL COL top 5 teams in first round only happens in our division no where else. In future it might be the LA SAN have to do that. By then DAL COL would be older. How old is WIN MIN. I mean there might be four five of top 10 teams in our division.
Carle, Woodcroft and Quenneville interview for Ducks coach.
Watching Dal vs Colo. There is no way the Hawks would keep up. I should say they may keep up but wouldn’t last a period.
Billy ..how where you able to create your avatar ?
Hahah now we all have the same avatar 😏
HOGS WIN IN OT They…YESSSSSSS 🍷
Hogs win
HOGS WIN IN OT
They where down 2-0 and came back big time
OK – of the three dream scenario components named by Billy in the title of this thread – Sullivan, Marner and Misa – the odds of getting one of those three is very long – getting all three – fa-get-about-it. If I had to pick one the three I would pick Misa because I think he would have the most long range positive impact.
But let’s say we get none of those three – we’ll still get a top-4 pick who may bot be as good as Schaefer or Misa – but still pretty good. We’ll end up with a new coach who may not have the resume Sullivan does but he’ll probably be better that Sorenson. Who knows who we’ll get in free agency – we’ll see.
Which brings me to this thought that’s been careening around inside my nugget lately. While the urge to get Bedsy a competent line mate is a real thing – is getting “that” guy sooner rather than later really a real thing? Do we have “that” guy in our system who is just not quite ready yet but could be ready to start the 2026/27 season? Could Lardis or Kantserov or Moore or Boisvert or Vanacker or someone else emerge from the prospect ranks to fill that role?
Would it be nice to get that legit top-6 line mate for Bedard for the 2025/26 season? Sure, but I don’t think it’s vital for the rebuild.
Thought that was Terrance or Phillip. They are Canadian.
Keep going on avatars appreciate that be cool to upload or have a group that is normal looking.
I am trying to “fix” this avatar shit …
Bear with me…. lol
I’ve been against signing Marner because he will get a fortune from the team who outbids the rest of his suitors and even though the salary cap is of little concern today – locking in Marner at $14M for the next 7 years is eventually going to be a concern – chickens eventually come home to roost.
However, after giving it more thought I’ve warmed up the notion of acquiring Marner – primarily for one reason – his defense. We know his great offensive talent is the obvious reason to bring him in – to unlock Bedard’s offensive game. What’s less obvious is what Marner can do to offset Bedard’s 5v5 defensive deficiencies. Is that enough to warrant what will almost certainly be some salary cap concerns down the road? Maybe.
We see what GM Davidson does when he can do something. Ot do something just to do something. Do it with meaning purpose and always stays in longterm picture.
He makes moves and good ones. When we needed eight ufa established nhl players/even though they suck they weren’t the worst they just sucked. Other than teravainen/age wise.
Though is he got what we needed at the time and didn’t waste any assests for something that had nothing to do with big picture. While at same time stay on target with what we’re actually doing here.
Whole time been a purpose specific. I like that. Fucking love it.
Anything that good comes along we prob do it. Can’t force anything and can’t do trade with ourselves/need other teams to trade. It happens when it happens.
Main thing is GM Davidson does it when available and he sometimes gets killer deals.
Used assets to trade up and get who we really like. See Doug that again and for adding established good players that are <28.
I like summer of 25 and 26 being the gathering timeline for being playoff ready standings wise for the well known 27 season. Remember the cable bell conference is way deeper then east conference. 12th place in Campbell is 7/8 seed in east/MTL.
So we are going to earn it and get better team in it being harder. Better competition for young wave players to get better in the best way possible.
Iron sharpens iron.
There are a lot of coaches out there as the Athletic did a list recently and once the playoffs are over there may be a few more. I’m sire KFC is on top of this, and is creating a target list. Sully would be a good choice but if all that is being said about him wanting to go to a contender on the East coast, the NYR have the pole position right now.
Marner isn’t coming to Chicago either, so there is strike two on the list. Misa is well within the realm of possibility, but he isn’t head and shoulders above Frondell, Desnoyers, or Martone. Schaefer could fall into their hands too creating an opportunity to grab another defender with top 4 skill or an opportunity for a trade down with an NHL ready player as part of the deal.
KFC has never had more to play with as far as cap, picks, and opportunity. Here is where his mark on this team going forward will be placed. Fingers crossed! Go Hawks!!!!!!!!!!
Demidov in MONTREAL.
the Kid will need time to adapt to NHL and in is 5 Stanley cup games he had 2 sog . ( in 5 games ) with an average of close to 15 minutes per Games .
Thats exactly what i was saying before …IT Takes TIme to be able to adapt to a new league , a new country , a new City, ect ect .
We will see later iff he can adapt to a new life style.
Levs had a good advantage…he was already in America for more then 2 years . So he had time to adapt .slowly .
Hogs start their battle against the Admirals tonight …
Should be very interesting to see .
Was TOR up 3 games.
Yess lightning ⚡️ is where its supposed to be …on Vacation for the annual golf tournament.
They should fired their coach ….so Hawks could take him 🤣 😍
With TB out watch an interview/meeting with Blashill
Lightning… too old and slow…. Sit Down !!!!!!
According to Jim Rutherford (president of Canucks) and good friend of Sullivan, says he wants to stay at n the east. Take it for what it’s worth
Carolina resigning Taylor Hall has me scratching my head. I dont see what others see in him. The same with Strome and Seth Jones. I hear what people write about them, but I am not buying it. Jones, I get, they have a stacked team, and his flaws are easily camouflaged. I do worry about Barkoff long term, the hits from Hagel this year and Draisaitl last year have long term impacts to a player like him. A few more of those and it could be career changing.
The league needs to start to do something about the high hits to the head area. Hagel, Ekblad, and others are taking it to a new level of hurt the player at all costs. Wilson is the dirtiest coward of them all, hit the guy and skate away to the bench.
I have never been a fan of hits to the head that should be min of 10 games but the players association wont go for that unless they start to see star players lose their career over it. Money talks peoples lives dont.
I still think about when Seabs decked Backes in game two, his career was never the same.
Sorenson not Sanderson
The new coach is critical to be a teaching communicator, like Savard was. But we MUST shore up Rockford too. We need to create a common playing system between the 2 locations.
I just don’t see Marner being a Blackhawk player, or any other major free agent. Would like, but can’t see it with the money that is becoming available. We need a couple of teams to decide to go rebuild, and then swoop into their batches of now available ready players, like we sold Hagel, Dcat and Dach. We need smart trades with the excess of picks we have in this and the upcoming drafts. And we need to get size with speed. RFA offer sheets?
We have assets. Let’s start using them. Unfortunately, it takes 2 to trade. But we need to start next season with at least one more top 6 player. If we get top pick in draft- wide open to a trade for me. But we need a player coming out of the trade, if not a top 5 pick.
Nothing new here. But get it done.
That would be nice – doubtful – but nice.
Yes its a nice dream. 😴
I like it .
That would be a really good change ifor the Hawks .
Monday (5th) is “ShowTime”!!!!!
